Welcome, Shanique Garcia!
Posted 07/12/2017 11:16AM

Oldfields is thrilled to welcome Shanique Garcia as our new Director of Admission and Enrollment Management as of July 1, 2017. Shanique has hit the ground running, attending the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and the National Coalition of Girls' Schools conferences with Head of School Ansley Smithwick during her first days on campus.

Director of Admission

Shanique brings a wealth of experience and creative strategies after serving six years as the Senior Associate Director of Admission at Pomfret School in Pomfret, CT. Prior to her work at Pomfret, she spent five years as the Assistant Director of Admission at the Prep for Prep program in her hometown of New York City where she also worked part time as a social worker. Shanique is a graduate of St. Paul's School in Concord, NH, where she participated in the School Year Abroad program to Barcelona, Spain, during her sixth form year. She earned her BA in psychology and Hispanic Studies from Connecticut College and her MS in social work from Columbia University. The breadth of her experience makes her the ideal person to lead Oldfields' well-established team of Senior Associate Director of Admission Tom Faxon, Associate Director of Admission and Financial Aid Stephanie Hill, and Assistant Director of Admission Emma Horgan.

Shanique shares, "When I walked away from my first day at Oldfields, I knew that I had found more than just a job. I felt a true sense of family. The spirit of the Oldfields community and the authenticity of the girls made it easy for me to want to be a part of this wonderful place."

Shanique loves to cook in her spare time. She can't wait to explore the dining scene in the Baltimore/Washington, DC, area and the Oldfields faculty and staff can't wait to be invited to her home in Garden House to benefit from her culinary skills!

Shanique is excited to meet the rest of the Oldfields community when they all return to campus in August. If anyone is in the area over summer, be sure to stop in and say "hello."
