US History is a required survey course covering the history of the United States from pre-European contact through the present. The course progresses through nine overlapping chronological periods. Students develop historical thinking skills and practices while building understandings of national (and world) issues and their relation to historical, political, economic, geographical, and cultural contexts. The development of student research and writing skills is emphasized. Course content is aligned with field trips offered through the history department to a diverse range of historical sites and museums throughout the region.
